Welcome to a reinvigorated Farrington Park

We are drawing up proposals to reinvigorate the golf, leisure and hospitality offer at Farrington Park, making it a more inclusive family-friendly venue.

This website looks at our plans for Farrington Park and explains the steps we are taking to ensure it has a long-term sustainable future while respecting and enhancing the local landscape and the environment.

The Next Chapter

While golf still remains popular in the UK, all the indications are that the sport as a whole is not doing enough to attract new generations to experience all that it has to offer.

  • Increasing pressures on family time, cost and accessibility have all been cited as reasons why people are choosing to spend their leisure time elsewhere.

  • Pre-covid, courses in England were closing at a rate of around one every six weeks. At the same time, the number of junior registered players fell from six percent of the total to three per cent.

  • The latest figures show that 84% of registered golfers are adult males.

The team at 360 loves golf as much as the members at Farrington Park do, and we want to make sure the venue has a sustainable future by offering the sort of facilities younger generations expect, while still providing the great golfing experience today’s members enjoy.

The introduction of a 12-hole golf course brings opportunities to broaden the appeal of golf to new generations while providing space for other activities and uses for the site such as racquet sports and new eco-lodges for short visitor stays.

Our aim is to provide a vibrant leisure venue which will quickly become a much-loved community asset.

Our Plans

We have asked world-renowned golf course architects Mackenzie & Ebert to consider a new future for the courses here, while local architects Plots and Plans Design have been looking at the facilities and seeing how they could be improved.

We have also taken into account the responses to the member survey we undertook last year, which saw more than 200 members share their thoughts.

As a result, the latest proposals include:

  • An outstanding 12-hole golf course designed by Mackenzie & Ebert, with an option for this possibly to be supplement with a further six-hole loop.

  • Upgrades to the driving range

  • A family putting course with low-level LED lights for evening play

  • New eco-cabins and farmstead accomodation

  • Indoor and outdoor Padel Tennis and Pickleball courts

  • A children’s play park offering environmentally friendly, safe play areas

  • An outdoor gym

  • A new maintenance hub to centralise operational and administration functions. This would be set at a lower ground level to minimise its visual impact across the rest of Farrington Park.

  • New greenkeeper facilities based at the hub

A wide range of environmental and sustainability initiatives would include:

  • Introducing native and drought-resistant plants to cut water usage and increase biodiversity

  • Integrated wildflower planting to support a variety of local wildlife and help control soil erosion, and increase carbon sequestration

  • Rainwater harvesting to reduce dependency on mains water. This water can be used for irrigation and maintenance cleaning

  • Solar energy systems, energy-efficient windows, and sustainable drainage in applicable areas

  • Use of recycled, renewable, and low-impact building materials

  • Herb gardens to enhance outdoor spaces and culinary experiences

  • Beehives to support pollination, biodiversity and sustainability, and reduce pesticide use

  • Permeable parking surfaces and eco-friendly transport facilities, such as electric vehicle charging stations.
